“Lead From the Heart”
DO: Realize that great leaders do lead from the heart.
DO: Note that leading from the heart does not mean weakness but strength.
DO: Appreciate that when you “lead from the heart” you reduce succumbing to external pressures, which is key.
DO: Understand that when you lead with the heart you connect better—with your clients, potential clients, colleagues, others.
DO: Know that connecting better means you are open and able to listen to what their needs are and then you are better able to fulfill their needs.
DO: Realize that when you are better able to fulfill their needs, your business grows.
DO: Take a quiet moment, which may be hard during these days—but make best efforts, to sit quietly. (Put on some quiet or meditation music if that helps to block out the “noise” in your head.)
DO: Take 5 minutes, just 5 minutes.
DO: Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and reflect on these questions: “How can I better lead with my heart? How can I serve my community better? What are they telling me they need?”
DO: Remember that people like to be heard and valued; when you lead from your heart you’ll be able to better connect, professionally and personally.
RESULT: It’s critical to realize that in your business no matter what you are doing, it’s about relating to and helping another human being. A human being that has needs, worries, frailties, who wants to be heard and valued, and who also wants to give. If you are closed to listening and fulfilling their needs because you are focused too much on YOU –me, me, me—you will miss the opportunity for greater connection and the opportunity to grow your business and strengthen your relationships.
